The upregulation of p62 is a unique response in LECs during autophagy induction. (a) Knockdown of Atg5 successfully suppressed Atg5 expression to nearly 38%. (b) Knockdown of Atg5, which suppressed autophagy initiation, prevented increase of p62 accumulation after H₂O₂ (50 μM) treatment for 12 hours. (c) Suppression of autophagy initiation with 3-MA also decreased p62 accumulation after H₂O₂ (50 μM) treatment for 12 hours. These findings demonstrated that p62 increased with autophagy induction.
