Effects of PD and THX on the apoptosis of OS-injured HUVECs. (a) The apoptosis of the HUVECs was assessed by the TUNEL assay. TUNEL staining was performed to stain the nuclei of the apoptotic cells (green), and DAPI was used to stain all of the nuclei (blue). The apoptotic index was expressed as the percentage of positively stained apoptotic cells out of the total number of cells counted. (b) The caspase-3 activity was measured via a fluorometric kit. (c) The Western blots images of Bcl-2 and Bax are, respectively, shown in the upper panel. The lower panels represent the densitometric analysis of the data. GAPDH was used as a loading control.
