Function of EP receptors in blood pressure regulation. PGE₂ increases vascular tone and thus blood pressure through EP1-mediated Ca²⁺ influx and EP3-mediated inhibition of cAMP synthesis, while it lowers blood pressure via EP2- and EP4-mediated activation of adenylyl cyclase and cAMP synthesis.
