NADPH oxidase activity (a) and mRNA (b) basal levels of rat skeletal muscles. H₂O₂ production was determined in the microsomal fraction by the Amplex red/horseradish peroxidase assay. mRNA levels were determined by qPCR and were expressed relative to soleus muscle. Data were obtained with 10 animals from at least two independent experiments and are shown as mean ± SEM. .
