Therapeutic targets and possible physiological functions of H₂S. Enough experimental evidence has been collected to prove the prominent role of H₂S in normal pathophysiology. Therefore, many therapeutic targets exist for H₂S in mammalian body; its roles in neuroprotection, neuromodulation, and antiproliferation, as well as its functions during peripheral nerve degeneration and regeneration, are widely appreciated.
