Ghrelin Protects Human Lens Epithelial Cells against Oxidative Stress-Induced Damage

Morphological observations confirmed the reduction in opacity when the lenses were incubated in ghrelin. Whole lenses were pretreated with ghrelin at concentrations of 10−9–10−6 M for 24 h and then cultured for 6 h with 100 μM H2O2. The control group received no treatment, and the H2O2 group was treated only with 100 μM H2O. Photographs were taken against a background of black gridlines. The higher the concentrations of ghrelin, the less opacity was observed in the lenses.
