Blockage of NOX2/MAPK/NF-κB Pathway Protects Photoreceptors against Glucose Deprivation-Induced Cell Death

Inhibition of NOX2 suppresses the activation of MAPK signals. (a) 661W cells were cultured in normal or glucose-free medium and cells were treated with 100 μM NSC or APO for 16 h. Cell lysates were collected at the indicated time periods and subjected to Western blot analysis of phosphorylated ERK, JNK, and p38. Actin protein was used as an internal control. (b) Protein bands on the Western blots were scanned, and the intensity was determined by optical density measurements. The ratio of phosphorylated kinase/β-actin was calculated based on the values of optical density.
