In blood vessels, Mas promotes a variety of beneficial cardiovascular outcomes via the activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway promotes the phosphorylation of GSK3β and inhibits apoptosis through increasing the expression of Mcl. Besides, the PI3K/AKT pathway plays an antioxidant role by increasing Nrf2 protein levels in the nucleus. Moreover, eNOS phosphorylation is regulated by PI3K/AKT to initiate NO synthesis.
