Oleic Acid and Hydroxytyrosol Inhibit Cholesterol and Fatty Acid Synthesis in C6 Glioma Cells

<div>Effect of oleic acid, hydroxytyrosol, or their combination on [1-<sup>14</sup>C]acetate incorporation into individual fatty acids. The effects of 25 <i>μ</i>M OA, 25 <i>μ</i>M HTyr, and their combination on the incorporation of labelled acetate into different fatty acids were assayed. After 4 h of incubation, the radiolabelled neosynthesized fatty acids were extracted and separated by HPLC. Eluted fractions, corresponding to the different fatty acids, were collected for radioactivity measurement. Data, expressed as cpm/mg protein, represent means ± S.D. of six experiments.
