Metallothionein-I + II Reduces Oxidative Damage and Apoptosis after Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury in Rats

<div>Caspase-3 activity measured in spinal cord tissue at 24 (a) and 72 h (b) after surgery procedure. Sham/SS: animals with laminectomy only plus saline solution; Sham/MT: rats with laminectomy with MT (10 <i>μ</i>g per rat) at 2 and 8 h after surgery; SCI/SS: spinal cord injury and treatment with saline solution; SCI/MT: spinal cord contusion and treatment with metallothionein at 2 and 8 h after damage.
