Swim Training Modulates Skeletal Muscle Energy Metabolism, Oxidative Stress, and Mitochondrial Cholesterol Content in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Mice

Citrate synthase, cytochrome c oxidase activities, and the respiratory capacity rate in skeletal muscle of ALS and WT mice. Citrate synthase (CS) (a) and cytochrome c oxidase (COX) (b) were measured in skeletal muscle homogenates. The RCR was assessed in skeletal muscle crude mitochondria (c). There were significant differences between the groups: versus ALS 0, versus ALS TER, versus ALS TER (LSD post hoc test); , , between the indicated ALS and corresponding WT groups. The data are presented as the means ± SEM ( in each group).
