Protective Effect of Ethyl Pyruvate against Myocardial Ischemia Reperfusion Injury through Regulations of ROS-Related NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation

<div>EP ameliorated myocardial I/R-induced increase in NLRP3 expression. Using immunohistochemistry staining, the NLRP3-positive myocardial area following I/R injury was assessed. EP, ethyl pyruvate; NLRP3, nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor with a pyrin domain 3; IRC, ischemia (30 min)-reperfusion (4 h) without treatment; EP<sup>pre</sup>, EP (50 mg/kg) treatment 1 h before ischemia; EP<sup>post</sup>, EP (50 mg/kg) treatment upon reperfusion.
