[Retracted] Proanthocyanidins Antagonize Arsenic-Induced Oxidative Damage and Promote Arsenic Methylation through Activation of the Nrf2 Signaling Pathway

Figure 14

Effects of grape seed procyanidin extract on arsenic methylation in Nrf2-suppressed cells (mean ± SD, ). Nrf2-suppressed cells were treated with arsenic (25 μM) and grape seed procyanidin extract (GSPE; 0, 10, 25, and 50 mg/L) for 24 h. Versus the GSPE (0 mg/L) group, . Treatment with 50 mg/L GSPE caused a prominent increase in iAs3+ levels compared with the same intervention in Nrf2 normal cells. However, DMA content in the 50 mg/L GSPE group after Nrf2 inhibition was lower than that in Nrf2 normal cells treated with the same dose. In Nrf2-suppressed cells, GSPE had no significant effect on MMA compared with Nrf2 normal cells. In addition, MMA content in Nrf2-suppressed cells was higher than that in Nrf2 normal cells.
