Ethyl Acetate Fraction of <i>Lannea microcarpa</i> Engl. and K. Krause (Anacardiaceae) Trunk Barks Corrects Angiotensin II-Induced Hypertension and Endothelial Dysfunction in Mice

<div>Effects of LMAE on superoxide and nitric oxide production <i>ex vivo</i>. LMAE (50 mg/kg) was administered daily by oral gavage for 3 weeks, and osmotic minipumps delivering NaCl (0.9%) or angiotensin II (0.5 mg/kg/day) were implanted 1 week after the start of the LMAE pretreatment. Nitric oxide (NO<sup>⋅</sup>) (a) and superoxide (O<sub>2</sub><sup>−</sup>) (b) production was measured in femoral arteries. NaCl: mice treated with NaCl, control; NaCl+LMAE: mice treated with LMAE and NaCl; Ang II: mice treated with Ang II; Ang II+LMAE: mice treated with LMAE and Ang II. NaCl and Ang II groups were treated with an equal volume of vehicle (2% of Tween 80).
