Lupeol Counteracts the Proinflammatory Signalling Triggered in Macrophages by 7-Keto-Cholesterol: New Perspectives in the Therapy of Atherosclerosis

<div>Western blotting analysis of autophagy markers in <i>M</i><sub>(IFN-<i>γ</i>/LPS)</sub> macrophages. Lupeol enhances autophagy on <i>M</i><sub>(IFN-<i>γ</i>/LPS)</sub> macrophages and counteracts dysregulated autophagy induced by 7-Keto-cholesterol (7KC). <i>M</i><sub>(IFN-<i>γ</i>/LPS)</sub>-polarized THP-1 macrophages were stimulated or not with 25 <i>μ</i>M lupeol for 1 hour and further stimulated with 7KC for 20 hours in the presence of the autophagy inhibitors ChQ or 3MA. Western blotting analysis of (a) LC3-I/II and (b) P62-SQSTM1 were performed in the whole-cell lysates of macrophages.
