Neuroprotective Effect of Salvianolic Acid A against Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy through Modulation of Nrf2

Salvianolic acid A protected against the peripheral neuropathy in KK-Ay diabetic mice. SalA 1 mg/kg was orally administered to KK-Ay diabetic mice for 8 weeks and the sciatic nerve function, including (a) thermal withdrawal latency (TWL), (b) mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT), (c) ear blood flow, (d) foot blood flow, and (e) motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV), was assessed.
