Animals were divided into respective 5 groups and 6 animals (3 males and 3 females) each. Each group receiving a single oral dose of 2, 4, 8, and 10 g/kg body weight of SSP extract, while the control group was administrated with distilled water. The general behavior, signs of toxicity and/or death, and the latency of death were observed continuously for 1 h after the oral administration and then intermittently for 4 h and thereafter for 24 h. The LD50 value was determined according to the method described by Kharchoufa et al. [45].
