Exploring the Possible Link between the Gut Microbiome and Fat Deposition in Pigs

The relative abundance of microbiota in the colon of the high- and low-fat pigs. The colon content samples were collected from 5 high-fat and 5 low-fat pigs at 250 days old for DNA isolation and metagenome sequencing. The genus (a) and species (b) levels of bacteria in the colons of high- and low-fat pigs were compared. Heatmaps were generated with -score calculated from the relative abundance of each bacteria genus (a) or species (b). The top 13 genera and 33 species are shown.
