A Comparison of the Antiosteoporotic Effects of Cornelian Cherry (Cornus mas L.) Extracts from Red and Yellow Fruits Containing Different Constituents of Polyphenols and Iridoids in Osteoblasts and Osteoclasts

Figure 2

The effect of Cornus mas L. extracts on the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity in the primary osteoblasts of mice. The primary osteoblasts were incubated with ascorbic acid (50 μg/mL), β-glycerophosphate (10 mM), and cotreated with RED EXT1 (a), YL EXT2 (b), and YL EXT3 (c) at three different concentrations (2, 5, and 10 μg/mL) for three days. ALP activity was measured using p-nitrophenyl phosphate at an absorbance of 405 nm. CM, Cornus mas L. extract. vs. induction, # vs. CM2 (one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Tukey’s honest significant difference post hoc test).
