Exercise plays an important role in systemic antioxidant action through the Nrf2-ARE pathway. Nrf2 activation can occur in variety tissues. This is an important mechanism by which exercise exerts systemic antioxidant effect. These effects are not only involved in skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle but also include the brain, liver, and kidneys.
