Oxidative Stress in Muscle Diseases: Current and Future Therapy 2019
Description
Oxidative stress is the consequence of imbalance in formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidants defense leading to tissue injury. A key issue is that high levels of ROS modulate host molecular, structural, and functional muscle modifications. In pathological conditions, ROS burst contributes to cellular dysfunction and progression of muscle disease. Scientific advances have led to a better understanding of the role of oxidative stress on muscle remodeling, in turn leading to new therapeutic targets in a wide range of muscle diseases.
We invite researchers to contribute original articles and review articles that offer insight into the role of oxidative stress in acute and chronic progressive muscle disorders. Articles may address the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in these processes as well as current therapeutic approaches. We welcome all articles that describe new and important findings on skeletal muscle and myocardial diseases.
