Pentoxifylline Neuroprotective Effects Are Possibly Related to Its Anti-Inflammatory and TNF-Alpha Inhibitory Properties, in the 6-OHDA Model of Parkinson’s Disease

Figure 9

Representative photomicrographs showing that pentoxifylline treatments (PTX, 15 days) reverse the increased immunoreactivity for TNF-alpha in the 6-OHDA group, relatively to the ipsilateral striatum from the untreated 6-OHDA rats. Groups: SO (sham-operated, control), untreated 6-OHDA, and 6-OHDA treated with PTX, at the doses of 25 and 50 mg/kg (400x magnification). A versus SO, q = 23.85 ; B versus 6-OHDA + PTX25, q = 22.11 ; C versus 6-OHDA + PTX50, q = 19.34 ; D versus SO, q = 4.51 (one-way ANOVA and Newman-Keuls as the post hoc test).
