Validation of a Parkinson Disease Predictive Model in a Population-Based Study

Figure 1

Participants in the cohort and nested case-control sample (U.S. Medicare). Selection of participants in both the cohort and the nested case-control sample was according to the following criteria: all beneficiaries were required to have Medicare Part A and/or B coverage, be U.S. residence, be of age 66–90 in 2009, and be alive without PD as of January 1, 2010. We followed participants from January 1, 2010, through December 31, 2014. 118,095 beneficiaries did not have PD in 2009 and served as the controls in the original case-control study in which the PD predictive model was developed [17]. Abbreviations: CPT = Current Procedural Terminology; ICD-9 = International Classification of Diseases, Version 9; PD = Parkinson disease.
