Activation of PPAR-δ may have profound effects on vascular homeostasis and coronary artery diseases. These include both the direct actions in the vessel wall and the indirect effects on multiple cardiovascular risk factors. PPAR-δ gene polymorphisms are also linked to cardiovascular diseases.
