PPARs and Gastrointestinal Cancer

Description

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily and have been implicated in a variety of physiologic and pathologic processes such as nutrient metabolism, energy homeostasis, inflammation, and cancer.

This is very important to understand the role of PPARs on different cancer types. Thus, we invite authors to submit original research and review articles that seek to define the interaction between PPARs and gastrointestinal tumors.

We are interested in articles that explore aspects of PPARs not only in humans but also in animal and in in vitro models of gastrointestinal cancer. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Elucidating the role of PPARs in gastrointestinal cancer onset and progression
  • PPARs in colon cancer
  • PPARs in pancreatic cancer
  • PPARs in liver cancer, steatosis, and infection
  • PPARs in esophageal cancer
  • PPARs in IBD (inflammatory bowel diseases) and control of gastrointestinal inflammation
  • PPARs and gut microbiota and microflora
  • PPARs and helicobacter pylori
  • PPARs as prognostic indicator
  • Identification of new target genes of the PPARs in gastrointestinal tumors
  • Effects of exposure of PPARs ligands to gastrointestinal cancer proliferation, apoptosis, aggressiveness, invasion, and signaling pathways
