Successful Isolation of Viable Adipose-Derived Stem Cells from Human Adipose Tissue Subject to Long-Term Cryopreservation: Positive Implications for Adult Stem Cell-Based Therapeutics in Patients of Advanced Age

Live ASCs during extended cell growth relative to cryopreservation duration. ASCs from each patient were plated to a density of cells/well and counted after (a) 9, (b) 18, and (c) 28 days to characterize the effect of cryopreservation duration on continued ASC growth. We observed sustained ASC growth irrespective of cryopreservation duration. Cell counts were compared relative to cryopreservation duration in 3 cohort groups: <1 year (), 1-2 years (), and >2 years (), and were not found to be significantly different.
