Human mesenchymal stromal cells from bone marrow (bmMSCs) are defined by their expression of CD73, CD90, and CD105, by lack of expression of a series of other cell surface markers such as CD11b, CD34, and CD45, and by a fibroblastoid appearance (a) and trilineage differentiation to generate chondrocytes (b), osteoblasts (c), or adipocytes (d) (for further details see [23]).
