Cellular Origins of Regenerating Nodules and Malignancy in the FAH Model of Liver Injury after Bone Marrow Cell Transplantation

Cell fusion. Colocalization of β-Gal (red) and Fah (green) expression in regenerating hepatic nodules (Group 1) (a). Donor-derived hepatocytes with a single Fah+ hepatocyte containing two nuclei, of which only one expressed β-Gal+ in a mouse that received ROSAnZ BMCs (b). Hepatocytes expressing β-Gal+ in their nuclei, which were formed by host and donor-derived hepatocytes, expressed Fah+ in their cytoplasm, which was derived from the donor, in the regenerating nodules of -ROSAnZ mice that received C57Bl/6J BMCs (Group 2) (c).
