Gene expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory modulators in BD-MSC treated and nontreated NOD mice. Following 4 weeks of treatment total RNA was extracted from the lacrimal glands and used for (a) reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction of CXCR4, CXCL12, Foxp3, and TSG6 genes or (b) quantitative polymerase chain reaction of cathepsin S, MHC-II, MMP9, Rab3D, Rab27A, Rab27B, IL-12α, IFN-γ, TNF-α, aquaporin 5, and M3R genes.
