The Effect of Chronic Inflammation and Oxidative and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in the Course of Metabolic Syndrome and Its Therapy

Figure 1

Schema of the correlation between excessive intake of fatty acids and glucose and inflammatory cytokine secretion on metabolic syndrome occurrence. Overconsumption of fat and sugar and proinflammatory cytokine production play a crucial role in ER and oxidative stress occurrence. Elevated NF-κΒ, JNK, and ROS concentration leads to increase inflammation, insulin resistance, and adipocyte differentiation, which cause MetS and finally obesity and type 2 diabetes.
