Low Magnitude of Compression Enhances Biosynthesis of Mesenchymal Stem Cells towards Nucleus Pulposus Cells via the TRPV4-Dependent Pathway

Schematic diagram. The low magnitude of compression and GSK101 could activate the TRPV4 channel on the cell membrane in MSCs. TRPV4, the Ca2+-preferred membrane ion channel, is possible to transduce the external mechanical signals into internal response of biosynthesis expression via the generation of intracellular Ca2+ influx. The gene expression could result in ECM synthesis and secretion at last, improving the biosynthesis capability of MSCs towards discogenesis.
