IGF-1-Overexpressing Mesenchymal Stem/Stromal Cells Promote Immunomodulatory and Proregenerative Effects in Chronic Experimental Chagas Disease

Experimental design and cell tracking. C57BL/6 mice were infected with 1000 T. cruzi trypomastigotes (Colombian strain) and treated, during the chronic phase, with 106 MSCs or MSC_IGF-1, intravenously, every 15 days, during 60 days (a). Saline-treated and naïve mice were used as controls. Heart and skeletal muscle tissues were collected 15 days after the last administration of cells for RT-qPCR analysis of GFP (b) or human IGF-1 gene expression (c).
