Protection of the Peritoneal Membrane by Peritoneal Dialysis Effluent-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in a Rat Model of Chronic Peritoneal Dialysis

Treatment with pMSCs prevents loss of peritoneal ultrafiltration (UF). The peritoneum of Wistar rats was daily exposed to Dianeal (4.25% dextrose) and was treated with either vehicle PBS or pMSCs. The UF as a parameter of peritoneal function was measured at the end of 6 weeks of treatment by using Dianeal (4.25% dextrose) with dwell time of 90 min. Data were presented as (SD) of each group (naïve: , vehicle: , and pMSCs: ) and were statistically analyzed using the two-tailed -test. (vehicle vs. naïve), (pMSCs vs. vehicle), and (naïve vs. pMSCs).
