Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine 2020

Description

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells that are able to differentiate into a number of tissues such as bone, fat, cartilage, and muscle. They can be isolated from a number of sources and because of their differentiation and immunomodulatory properties, they have relevant and significant clinical therapeutic applications. MSCs are currently being used to treat a number of clinical conditions, as well as being tested in preclinical and clinical trials around the world due to their tissue regenerative properties.

In this Special Issue, we invite authors to submit original research articles examining any potential clinical application or preclinical studies of MSCs or their derivatives. We invite publications relating to isolation, derivation, differentiation, reprograming, transplantation, quality control, and other similar studies on the topics. We also invite review articles relating to the above-mentioned aspects of MSCs.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Advances in existing isolation, derivation, or differentiation methods, in particular the development of scalable clinically relevant systems
  • Maintenance, differentiation, trans-differentiation, and homing of the behavior of MSCs
  • Biomaterials for culture, expansion, or differentiation of MSCs
  • Transplantation of MSCs into in vivo model systems of disease
  • Development of good manufacturing practice protocols for clinical grade MSCs
  • Clinical trials and case studies relating to the application of MSCs
  • Delivery methods for transplantation of MSCs and the immune response after MSC transplantation
  • Functional genomics of MSCs (including disease related)
