Effect of droplet size on expansion factor according to ideal gas laws with Laplace pressure included. Calculations are presented for two variations of both ambient pressure ( ; ) and surface tension ( = 30 mN/m; = 51 mN/m). Droplets on the order of 10 μm can be expected to expand less in vivo than in vitro regardless of surface tension, while droplets of 500 nm or less will expand less at higher surface tension values.
