Apocynin administration is associated with suppression of colloidal carbon-induced liver respiratory activity (ΔQO2) assessed in isolated perfused livers from euthyroid rats (a), without altering carbon phagocytosis (b). Determinations were carried out 7 days after apocynin treatment. ΔQO2 was calculated by integration of the area under the O2 consumption curves between 30 and 45 min perfusion. Values shown represent means ± SEM for 4 rats per experimental group. Significance was calculated by Student’s t-test for unpaired data.
