Germination percentages of fresh ripe seeds of Senecio aquaticus sampled in 2010; displayed are means ± SE ( 𝑛 = 5 ). For germination, seeds either lay on top of or were mixed with substrate that was spread in 5 mm thick layers. At noted dates ( , ) substrate was thoroughly crumbled to provide light to all seeds.
