The representative micrographs of the semiquantitative scoring system described in Table 1, represented the heart histopathology. Grade 0: no pathological changes. Grade 1: minor inflammatory lesions comprises of focal subendocardial mononuclear leukocytes. Grade 2: several distinct lesions with moderately increased number of mononuclear leukocytes. Grade 3: severe lesions where almost all myofibres have been replaced by inflammatory cells, predominantly by mononuclear lymphocyte-like cells. Arrow: inflammation. Scale bars = 50 μm.
