Hits with the lowest E-value are represented which are proteins with the biggest homology to the peptides obtained from LC-MS/MS. The emPAI (Exponentially Modified Protein Abundance Index) value offers approximate, label-free, relative quantitation of the proteins in a mixture based on protein coverage by the peptide matches in a database search result [23].
