Two-dimensional representation of the plausible source of magnetic-field sensitive (anomalous) tunneling systems in, for example, the AlBaSiO glass. The tight vitreous- structure (a) is broken up by the Al- and large Ba-atoms (b), thus leaving many metal ions free to move in a -minima (soft) tunneling potential, with (c). The unbroken Si–O–Si bond dynamics, if any, is of the usual 2LS-type.
