Compared to the normal morphology of kidneys in the control group, those of mice treated with Pb acetate displayed marked histological changes in the cortex and remarkable swelling in the proximal tubular epithelial cells, as well as diminishing glomeruli of the kidney. Although SM-treated mice showed some enlargement of proximal tubular epithelial cells, the glomerulus architecture was normal compared with the Pb group.
