Algorithm 1

The SOF algorithm.

(1) Sort 𝑂^𝐸_𝑘,𝑘=1,2,3,…,𝑟^′ of the active patterns in MSS 𝐸

(2) Identify the active pattern 𝑃_𝑚 with min^𝑟′_𝑘=1(𝑂^𝐸_𝑘)

(3) Use Equation (7) to check 𝑒_{𝑚,𝑗∣𝑗=1,2,3,…,𝑟′} in 𝑃_𝑚

   If applying 𝑃_𝑚 can successfully schedule the MSS

   Split the overflowing OFDM frames

    Update the number of active OFDM frames in 𝑃_𝑚

    Record 𝑂_𝑎, the increased number of OFDM frames of 𝑃_𝑚

   Otherwise

    Discard the active pattern 𝑃_𝑚

(4) Repeat steps (2) and (3) to evaluate all active patterns of MSS 𝐸

(5) Choose the active pattern with minimum 𝑂_𝑎
