Natural Products: Bioactivity, Biochemistry, and Biological Effects in Cancer and Disease Therapy

Description

Although chemoprevention and chemotherapy has shown promises in some cancers and diseases, their available preventive agents are currently limited and generally existed with side effects. Therefore, the drug discovery for chemoprevention and chemotherapy is still challenging. It is conceivable that the effective derived natural products for chemoprevention and chemotherapy agents might be the target molecules. These molecules regulate the cell cycle, apoptosis, and signal transduction, which provides the detailed mechanism for the basis of drug discovery.

The overall aim of this special issue is to present the recent advances in natural products based on cancer and disease therapy. Furthermore, the aim of this issue also is to provide the innovative reviews of the features of natural products in terms of their bioactivities, biochemistry, and biological effects.

We invite investigators to contribute the original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts on the screening of the potential natural products for drug discovery, development of the strategies for chemoprevention and chemotherapy, as well as the evaluation of the outcomes for applying the emerging translational medicine issues. We are particularly interested in articles describing the recent advances in chemoprevention and chemotherapy, based on the antioxidant properties of natural products, as well as the other effects in the broad area of natural product studies. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Natural products
  • Medicinal plants
  • Extraction
  • Analysis
  • Bioassay
  • Biochemistry
  • Chemical engineering
  • Pharmacological activity
  • Recent developments in natural products based on anticancer drug screening
  • Role of natural products in inflammation
  • Role of natural products in antioxidant and protection effects
  • Role of natural products in DNA damage/repair response
