Nowadays, real-world problems are widely modeled and optimized by many researchers. For better guiding, the systems managers need to make good decisions by means of proper optimization methods. Thus new theory and application developments in these fields have been mooted as well. Many various applications are performed in these fields by researches and practitioners. As researchers do researches in optimization and decision science, it is felt that these issues can be connected to other fields for better optimizing and applying in decision making.

Presenting new and innovative contributions and reports on developments in decision science incorporating the recent research results in theory, case study and applications, from a wide selection of educators, practitioners, and research personnel, are the aim of this special issue. Here, covering a lot of important areas in decision science for cooperating among business, industry, and government is an aim too.
