Parallel and Distributed Computing: Algorithms, Programming, Applications and Technologies
Description
The advancement of parallel and distributed computing is crucial to overcome the large scale of the wireless network and have great societal and economic impacts. It has been under development for many years, coupling with different research and application trends such as cloud computing, datacenter networks, green computing, etc. Traditional methods are not enough to guarantee the treatment of the increased cardinality of network size. How to provide strong and effective operations to ensure the safety, efficiency, and security of their design and implementation is becoming an urgent issue both in academia and industry.
With the emergence of many wireless communication and mobile computing applications (e.g., edge computing, smart home, connected vehicles), it becomes challenging for the current architecture to deal with these heterogeneous data. In particular, it is necessary to explore new technologies to collect, process, analyze, and apply such big data. Research on parallel architecture still has many potential improvements for the current environment. Therefore, there are still many fundamental challenges in how to improve the architecture of wireless communication and mobile computing while fully utilizing these techniques (communication, big data processing, and computing etc.,).
The objective of this Special Issue is to overview recent trends in the interdisciplinary area of parallel and distributed computing in wireless communication and mobile computing, and to display current developments and address challenges in theory, technology, and applications emerging in this competitive field.
