Low Molecular Weight Z-Tetraol Boundary Lubricant Films in Hard Disk Drives

Figure 7

Evaporative loss of 9–12  Z-Tetraol films on at . The experiments were repeated more than several times as a check of consistency. The inset legend specifies the MW (1200 or 2200), the bonded ratio (BR) when the experiment was begun, and the initial film thickness (9–12  ). The bonded ratio was varied by disk aging under ambient conditions; that is, no annealing or UV treatment was applied to the disks.
