Schematic of antibacterial activity of Ag-NPs. Ag-NPs get adhered to the cell wall of bacterial cell through sulphur present in the protein comprising the bacterial cell wall, ultimately causing bacterial cell death. Ag-NPs also hamper protein synthesis along with directly causing damage to the interior of the bacterial cell by directly penetrating the cell wall and cell membrane.
