Data for maximum pit depth of aluminium alloy AG3 exposed in a coastal atmospheric environment at Alicante, Spain. The trends for pit depth are clearly bimodal or can be interpreted easily as such. The downward facing coupons show more aggressive pitting. In this case the changeover to mode 2 occurs at about 3-4 years of exposure. Data from Otero et al. [15].
