Supplementary Material

Supplementary information provides two additional micrographs showing the microstructural characteristics of the nickel ferrite covered with silica and functionalized with silver nanoparticles. The first micrograph shows size and shape homogeneity of the composites conformed by a core of nickel ferrite and a shell of silica, and the nanometric scale of the nickel ferrite particles is corroborated here. The second micrograph presents the silver nanoparticles growing in the surface of the silica cover in a dendritic form.
