Advances in Alzheimer’s Disease: From Bench to Bedside
Description
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a complex multifactorial neurodegenerative disease and the leading cause of dementia in the elderly, which presents a great burden to sufferers and to society. Recent advances in biology have introduced new technologies of basic research to study the genetic basis as well as the underlying mechanisms of AD. Knowledge and understanding of AD have also led to the development of diagnostic approaches and potential therapeutic strategies for this disease. Here, we invite investigators to contribute original research articles and review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms underlying AD pathogenesis, as well as the development of diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies to treat this disease. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Advances in genetic aspects of AD
- Latest technologies for molecular diagnostics of AD
- Advances in diagnostic imaging for AD
- New insights into the mechanisms of AD pathogenesis by using cellular or animal models
- Current concepts in the treatment of AD using neuroprotection, monoclonal antibodies, small molecules, siRNA, stem cells , and other therapeutic strategies
- Clinical trials of upcoming drugs for AD prevention or treatment
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/guidelines. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/bmri/geriatrics/geme/ according to the following timetable:
